Watch: Shreyas Iyer Struggles for Words During Interview After Fabulous Performance Against Windies

Iyer gave an on-field interview after India won the tense second ODI in which he spoke about how his preparation off the field helped him perform some critical strokes under pressure.

In the 50-over version of the game, Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer has been putting on some outstanding performances. Iyer has stepped up to the plate against West Indies in the ongoing ODI series in the absence of the big stars, playing back-to-back brilliant knocks. His half-centuries in the first two games were essential to India winning the games and clinching the series.

Due to the limited possibilities and competitive nature of the team, the Mumbai hitter has yet to secure his place in the lineup. It seems like Iyer’s difficulty is not only getting a seat on the squad but also coming up with the proper answers in an interview.

Iyer gave an on-field interview after India won the tense second ODI in which he talked about how his work off the field had helped him to perform some vital innings under duress.

“This is a representation of the work you do away from the field, “Iyer began, before quickly understanding that’result’ and not’replica’ was the term he was looking for.

“Yaar replica nahi, it’s not the right word; what you do off the field determines what you see on the field, “Iyer continued, incensed.

While it is still unclear whether he will be included in India’s T20I team for the forthcoming World Cup in Australia in October, he is working hard to remove any doubts whenever he has the chance.

In the first ODI, Iyer contributed a responsible performance of 54 runs off 57 balls, which enabled India to win by three runs.

India experienced an early collapse in the second ODI as Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav all left the field with just 79 runs scored. In order to get India back into the match, Iyer and Sanju Samson put up a 99-run partnership.

Iyer’s responsible innings of 63 runs off 71 balls was essential in helping India win the game with just two balls remaining. He was dissatisfied with his expulsion, though, as he was caught LBW by Alzarri Joseph and was unable to bat out the game.

“I was quite thrilled with the grade I received today, but I was extremely dissatisfied with the way I was let go. I believed I could have easily led the squad to victory, but the wicket was incredibly unlucky. The 27-year-old stated, “Hopefully, I score a century in the next game.
